The House that God Built
I would do unspeakable things to live here. UNSPEAKABLE, I say.
That is all.

Check out this sloped ceiling! And the unbelievable light! And the delicious bread and croissant on the table! (Sorry, haven't eaten breakfast yet.) Also loving the light bulb on a red cord and what you know is an incredible deck.
Lately, this bowl has been haunting my dreams. Vampires, ghosts and serial killers don’t keep me up at night, but home décor? Yep, that’ll do it. You see, while I’d usually describe myself as a good, well-behaved consumer, I do occasionally find myself drawn to the dark side. In this case, it’s the intoxicating blend of pale, Swedish colors and shiny, gold interior that beguile me. “What’s so dark about that?” you ask? The $645 price tag, that’s what. Sigh. It’s not easy being good.
Stop staring at me, bowl.

I am, I am! Whether it be in the kitchen, under the stairs, or in the bedroom, there really is nothing better than a little nook. (What’d you think I meant?) I love how when done right, built-ins like this can transform a space into a quaint yet chic hideaway. I’m also dying for this chair. The lines are reminiscent of those old-school papason chairs, but the supple leather and stylish details thankfully keep it from being, well, a papasan chair. Because let’s be real, the only time that chair was acceptable was in our college boyfriend’s dorm…right next to the futon.

I fell in love with this "delicious" sign the moment I saw it and knew it warranted a board. Sadly it wouldn't be right in my own space, but how great is it in a gray and white kitchen with teal backsplash??

I love to mix and match prints while keeping colors complementary and I think this room is such a great example of how successful it can be. Not to mention, how great is the covered acrylic bench at the foot of the bed??

I don't know about you, but occasionally I'm a sucker for a slipcover. (Especially on the days I spill coffee on my sofa.) I think it adds such an element of comfort to even the most austere space. If I decided to ever go that route, I'd keep it from looking too Plain Jane by introducing some great patterned pillows and a fun lamp like this one from Anthropologie.

I can't explain it, but my love of mid-century modern furniture runs VERY deep. My parents' house is filled with the most amazing "Palm Springs" pieces that always seem right at home in their space. It's a look that's harder to pull of in my condo, so I've taken to mixing styles in order to be true to the original structure and my mid-century love. If my husband could stomach pink, you'd better believe we'd be rockin' those sheets by Rubie Green, and thanks to the living room image from Oh So Beautiful Paper, I'm thinking of redecorating my living room. Joy!

Despite my obsession with white, this blog will indeed focus on interior design AND incorporate color! I know, hard to believe. However, because I do covet oh so many wonderful white homes, rooms, accessories and more, I'll be dedicating the Weekly Whiteout to one fabulous "white" image per week. This week, check out a great kitchen from the Domino archives. I'm loving the exposed shelves and subway tile contrasted with the dark wood counter tops!
