While I was down for the count after cataract surgery last week (yah, I'm 80, what's it to ya?) and enjoying guilt-free DAYTIME sleep, I was dreaming of a fabulous vacation. I know - daytime sleep and a vacation?? Unheard of, but whatevs. Usually my fantasies involve sandy beaches and warm blue waters, but not this time. Maybe it was because of the rain we got or that the temp finally dipped below 80, but I was suddenly craving a cozy fire and crunchy snow underfoot. Oh and yea, I'd like to experience both in this place. The Amangani Resort is a luxury locale in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and it's open year-round. Not that I would go anytime other than the winter because it would obviously suck (rigggggght, see photos above). "What does the lovely name of the resort mean?" you wonder? Peaceful home. Yep. I approve that message.

I am a simple girl with simple tastes. Give me a beach, a patio and a beer and I'm a happy camper. Add to that a sweet beach house, pool, and rooftop bar you could pretty much get me to do anything you want. What's that you say? Swings as bar-side seating? Yeah, I could get down with that.

Can You Feel The Heat Comin' From My Undercarriage?

If you haven't seen "Bridesmaids" yet, please disregard the title of this post. And then immediately go see it. Thank you. Annnnnyway, it's been BALLS hot here the past couple of days. So much so, that while I had every intention of seeking out a tropical paradise where the hubs and I could pretend vacation this morning, I somehow ended up here. In Slovenia. In an igloo. I don't even like the snow and I gotta admit this looks mighty appealing in some weird way. Waddya think? Would you ever stay in a hotel made of ice?? Mmmmmm, vodka.

Dear Masseria Cimino...

I realize you are a hotel, but would it be okay if I came to stay for like, ever? Because that would be spectacular. I love your white stucco, and your organic touches like olive oil on display and cactus as decor. Simple, brilliant, relaxing...adjectives I'd love to use more often these days. Looks like I'll need to travel to Italy to find out exactly how to do that. Damn.

Weekly Whiteout

I'd like to slip this little room in my pocket and carry it with me forever. Either that, or spend an extended vacation at the High Road House in London where it takes up permanent residence. Not only is the entire hotel a study in great style, but they also serve glitzy cocktails with names like, “Butterscotch Pie” and “Hibiscus Bellini.” If anyone needs me, I’ll be soaking in that glorious tub with a little friend called “Cherries and Cream.”
