This post is dedicated to my friend who’s in need of a Mexico moment. Question is, when we goin’ and how soon can I get my hands on a Corona ? And yes, I think my unborn will look all kinds of dapper in a sombrero.

Desert Nomad

The hubs and I finally settled on heading to Tucson for a relaxing getaway before the baby comes. Our plan was to stay at a great hotel at the base of the mountains where there is no DJ, college girls in g-strings or people who will stare in horror at the pale whale swimming without shame (moi). So we had this all planned out, right? Well then I came across this place. Stunning views of the desert, simple decor, and far removed from the general public - and now I'm confused all over again. Bah.

Post Paris

Have you guys seen the blog, Le Portillon? It's an online diary of a Swedish girl living in Paris and it is b.e.a.utiful. Both in print and in pictures, and it's just the journey I need to get me out of my head. Check out her most recent post:

Lately we’ve been spending most of our time discovering the area closest to us, where we live. Morning walks to Père-Lachaise, saying hello to Marcel and Edith. Admiring thick heavy doors leading into death, spotting stray cats asleep between the tombs. Then we stroll up and down the hills of Belleville, becoming tired, quite dizzy by all the places one wants to remember. Small thrift stores with shelves full of dreams, boxes with buttons meant for tailored coats. In a diary somewhere, I hide my thoughts.

Stunning. Stunning I say.

Dear Masseria Cimino...

I realize you are a hotel, but would it be okay if I came to stay for like, ever? Because that would be spectacular. I love your white stucco, and your organic touches like olive oil on display and cactus as decor. Simple, brilliant, relaxing...adjectives I'd love to use more often these days. Looks like I'll need to travel to Italy to find out exactly how to do that. Damn.

Seaside Spectacular

You know that thing you do when you're looking for a reasonable getaway and end up a million miles away dreaming of a 5-star vacation? Yeah, that's happened to me. While searching for a destination we could travel (by car) to spend a few days (a weekend) before the baby's born, I decided to check out airbnb.com. Ever been? It's allll kinds of awesome. Of course, instead of searching in say, Southern California, I clicked on Australia. And now I'm in biiiig trouble. Oh that house! Those views!! That kitchen!!! I even fell for the front walkway (it's gorgeous, right?). Sigh. If anyone is heading to that part of the world anytime soon, you should stay here...and send me a whooole bunch of pics. Oh, and if anyone else can think of a beautiful, quiet beach in Cali where a hormonal pregnant lady and her patient husband could relax, please let me know! My brain is full of cribs and Aussie dreams these days. Check out the full listing HERE. And grab a snack as you'll be on this site all day.

Suck It, Week, I'm Over You

In case you haven't noticed, there's some crazy shit going on in this world right now. Flooding in Australia, mudslides in Brazil, and in my own state, the tragic shooting in Tucson. Sigh. I don't know what's going on up in here, but I am O.V.E.R it. Working in news only amplifies the horrors, and well, being pregnant doesn't help my psyche either. I suddenly feel the need to escape and while I'll probably just hibernate in my house this weekend, I kinda wish I unplugged and on the water here. Who's with me?

On The Rocks

Last August, my husband and I road-tripped to my family's pad in Sun Valley, Idaho by way of Utah. The landscape was incredible and the thrill of the open road was just what I needed. What I didn't need, however, was the night we spent in a motel just outside of Zion. Obviously the park was allllll kinds of awesome, but this place? Not so much. There was a huge storm that night that soaked the carpet in our room and shook the paper-thin walls. Speaking of walls, let's just say I knew exactly where the tour group next door was heading the following day. But no, they didn't keep me up. The slab of rock called our bed did that job just fine. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a girl who needs 5-stars to be happy. In fact, I've had just as good a time in a Motel 6 as I have in a Ritz (you know what I mean), but one look at the new Amangiri resort has me rethinking my standards. Designed to blend into the Southern Utah landscape, it's a study of both minimalist beauty and full-service luxury. So yeah, while I may gravitate more towards beer and pretzels than champagne and caviar, something tells me I'd be right at home at the Amangiri. Sigh.

Hello Lovah

Today I’m dreaming of blowing this popsicle stand and heading to the surf, sand and sun in style. Have you ever stayed at a Rosewood resort? I have not, but I feel like this one would complete me. Sorry, hubs, you can come too...unless you want to do something active in which case the deal is off.
